School. Family. Community.

WELCOME ADDRESS AT USA CHAPTER, BHSI ALUMNI 2019 CONFERENCE, NJ

Today marks the beginning of a new dawn; we are witnesses of a new era of BHSI Alumni. It is an era of progress, excellence, distinction, commitment, and ultimate sacrifice. What we are witnessing today is not a function of how long, not how many, but how faithful and committed we are to educational emancipation in the lives of innocent children who are clueless of what the future holds other than that they trust their future in the hands of BHSI institution and governance (Government and Community).

Their lives are fragile that responsible alumni will not sit back and watch them wander in an environment with much talk and no walk. To do so is to be selfish; instead, we have chosen to be selfless and compassionate to impact one life at a time.

A Modern Library: A Gift for Our Determination and Commitment

Our Chapter (USA) is just one-year-old and the determination, sacrifice, and commitment of everyone on board have yielded a modern library with up-to-date technology gift to the school. It was handed over at the school’s recent 60th Anniversary celebrations in Iree, Oshun State, Nigeria. Text Books recommended for all classes were provided for “Reference in the Library” to enhance study and accessibility to Books by students and thus position them to excel in their studies. It is a dream accomplished and we all deserve to be congratulated.

The Conference: Promoting the Importance of Alumni Participation

The Conference is another feather added to our cap. It will set the stage for purposeful commitment and education of the global community on the relevance of Alumni participation in the growth and development of education in the global space. We have a Professor emeritus – Dr. Ayo Aina to deliver the first lecture in this series of creating awareness of USA Chapter and positioning BHSI on the educational map of the world. He will be properly introduced; suffice to mention that he graduated in 1964 in the class of the pioneer set of the school we are privileged to be alumni.

Our Conference will serve at least a dual purpose to socialize and participate in the discourse of redressing the deterioration of educational quality and standards in Nigeria and other nations struggling to catch up with the global trend of digital learning.

We welcome everyone to participate actively and not be mere spectators so that the Conference/Retreat will be worthwhile.

Thank you.
